Caspian Wolves Win Another Gold for ASU

Today, the final of the Student Basketball Association Championship (Astrakhan Division) ended with the victory of the men’s team of Astrakhan State University that beat the team “Oirots” of the Kalmyk State University 56:44.

Before the start of the match, ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov welcomed the basketballers: “I congratulate you on this sports festival, I wish the guests from Elista success in the final, and ASU — only the victory!”

On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the real men of ASU proved out their sporting superiority over the rivals.

The ASU team received the cherished Champions Cup from Andrey Tyumentsev, a famous Astrakhan sportsman — the Olympic Champion in handball — and a member of the ASU Board of Overseers. Besides, several basketballers of ASU received individual awards — in particular, Saypudin Abdurakhmanov got the title of the most valuable player of today’s match.
