May 27 saw the Interregional Conference of Rectors of Russian and Uzbekistan Universities. Representatives of public authorities and heads of more than 120 HEIs of the two countries held an online discussion on implementation of the bilateral agreements in science and education and outlined new areas and formats of the relations. The rector of Astrakhan State University also addressed the participants with a report.

Besides, Konstantin Markelov spoke about ASU projects on academic mobility for professors and students; for example, these are visits of ASU staff to Uzbeks HEIs and advanced training courses for professors from Uzbekistan.

The ASU rector told his colleagues about the experience of building Russian-Uzbek relations and ideas on their further development. Konstantin Markelov paid particular attention to development of distance learning programmes that now are of the biggest relevance.

The online conference participants also discussed some plans on deepening and expanding the partner relations.
