Rector Konstantin Markelov Sends His Greetings to ASU on Russia Day

Dear students, professors and administrative staff of Astrakhan State University! Please accept my warmest and most sincere congratulations on one of the main public holidays that unites all citizens of your country!

We celebrate this day in honour of our Motherland — a great nation with a thousand-year history and unique heritage that has united a great number of peoples and cultures on its vast area. On this day, we remember many generations of our compatriots, their deeds and achievements that made Russia the country we know and love. This holiday is also for each of us — real patriots who truly cherish their country and work tirelessly for its prosperity.

A lot of campaigns and flash mobs have been launched in celebration of this day — Russian citizens have decorated their windows with our tricoloured flag and are writing what they love their Fatherland for in social media. These events are meant for reminding everyone of the importance of patriotism and respect for the Motherland. I’m glad to see that students of our university have also joined these initiatives. Foreign students of ASU declare their love for Russia too. It demonstrates once again how a country can unite people that live on its territory.

We all are united by a desire to see Russia great and strong! We treasure our memory of the past and take care of the future, trying to do something useful for our country.

I wish creative and scientific inspiration, interesting projects, creative ideas and new achievements for the sake of our Fatherland!
