ASU Ph.D. Candidate Won RF Presidential Scholarship for Studying Abroad

Daria Vilkova is studying at Artois University within an academic mobility programme. Earlier, the student won a grant of Vernadsky programme, aimed at supporting young scientists’ mobility, and got a scholarship of the Embassy of France in Russia.

The 3rd-year Ph.D. student of major “Biological Sciences” (programme “Genetics”) of Astrakhan State University is working on her graduation thesis “Developing Methods for Genetic Identification of Species and Sturgeon Fillet Quality” and has been to Arras, France, three times.

Studying at Artois University is free of charge for representatives of ASU as a partner university, but the accommodation is rather expensive. However, as the Ph.D. student says, the website of the Centre for Education & International Activity Development “InterEducation” announces various scholarships and grants for students each year. Daria decided to try her luck, submitted an application for the all-Russia open competition to receive RF President scholarships for studying abroad, and won!

“I’d like to note that the competition is meant both for students and for Ph.D. candidates. Our university helped me with everything when I was preparing the documents. It’s a great opportunity to study in another country for the period of up to one year. And I became a holder of this scholarship. Many thanks to Astrakhan State University for support and help. It should be noted that the list of requirements of the foreign university was large, but I managed to do it,” says Daria.
