Seven Graduates of Astrakhan State University Won UMNIK Grants
The financing has been organized within federal project “HR for Digital Economy” of national programme “Digital Economy of Russia”.
Yesterday, on August 12, the management of the Innovation Promotion Foundation approved a list of the winners of eight selection platforms — “UMNIK — Digital Oil & Gas Industry”, “UMNIK — Electronics”, “UMNIK — VR/AR” and five platforms of competition “UMNIK — Digital Russia”.
Representatives of Astrakhan State University entered the list of 230 awardees; they participated in platforms “UMNIK — Digital Oil & Gas Industry” and “UMNIK — Digital Russia. Rostov-on-Don”.
Strange enough, but the COVID pandemic provided a sort of help to the grant applicants. Graduation theses were defended online at ASU because of the lockdown, and the theses supervisors asked the students to prepare video presentations of their projects in advance. The graduates successfully implemented the experience, gained at their alma mater, during the defence of their grant projects.
The UMNIK programme financing is meant for two years — the very duration of a Master’s degree programme that almost all the beneficiaries are going to enter. During this period, they will be able to prepare their Master theses and keep improving their projects. Those who are already Master’s degree students can improve their projects, entering a Ph.D. programme.
